This little sweetie pie is 10 months old! And has been for a week. I’m a terrible parent.
But really she has been super sick and is only just now on the mend. This is the cutest picture I’ve gotten of her so far this year and definitely the one featuring the least amount of snot. Today was her first day at daycare in 2013. I will be promptly dipping her in a vat of hand sanitizer at 5pm.
When she was 9 weeks old, I remember going to bed on the eve of week 10 thinking how she would never be in single digit weeks again. Fast forward to last Friday night and I’m in bed thinking about how she will never be single digit months again. And before I know it, she’s going to be 9 years old and I will be having those same thoughts about her 10th birthday. I’m getting a little sad just thinking about it.
She is still a BIG GIRL, so in that way nothing has changed. At her 9 month appointment, she was 22 and a half pounds and off the charts for height at 30.5″. I don’t think I’ve ever met another baby girl who is so tall! The pediatrician says that if she keeps it up, she’ll be 5’10″, and I’ll be over here all short and jealous.
The biggest change this month has been her words…mama, dada, baba for bottle, and now she uses them correctly! The other night I came home with an armload of groceries and couldn’t pick her up right away, so she crawled after me screaming “MAMA! MAMA!” until I could get to her. It was enough to make me drop all the groceries (even the eggs) in the middle of the dining room floor and snatch her right up. She walks along the furniture and sometimes even lets go and can stand on her own for a pretty significant amount of time. Her favorite food is spaghetti…
…and she can’t get enough of The Wiggles. Just yesterday I downloaded Uncle Noah’s Ark for her to listen to in the car because it’s her favorite. Not that she was even in the car or anything at the time. And okay fine I wanted to listen to it. Don’t judge me.
She is also an excellent dancer and has better rhythm than I do. Our new favorite place to eat dinner is Joe’s Crab Shack because they a disco light in the ceiling and music while the waiters and waitresses do little choreographed dance routines. Betty dances the entire time we are there and entertains everyone around us. She’s SUCH a ham!
Now that the holidays are over, I have begun preparations for her 1st birthday party. Naturally there will be unicorns involved because she isn’t old enough to pick a party theme yet and I am who I am. It’s just so hard to believe that in less than 2 months I am going to have a one year old. I’ve never been one to want to stop time, but maybe a little slow down would be nice.
Have you planned a themed party before? What was it?
